Privacy Policy

Overview

VEO is designed with privacy at its core. We don't require accounts, don't track you for advertising, and the game works offline. We collect only what's needed to make gameplay work. Anonymous play is always available.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

• Anonymous User ID: A random identifier generated by Firebase Authentication to manage your game sessions. No personal info attached.
• Device Identifier: A device-specific identifier used for session management and to prevent abuse.
• Email Address (Optional): If you choose to link your account via Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or Email, your email address is stored in Firebase Authentication solely for account recovery and cross-device access. You are never required to provide an email -- anonymous play is always available.

1.2 Global Profile (Optional)

If you participate in Global Challenges, you may optionally provide:

• Gamertag: A custom display name for leaderboards.
• Country Code: An ISO country code for regional leaderboards, manually selected -- not auto-detected.
• Avatar Emoji: A visual identifier for your profile.

Gameplay statistics are also stored: total points, challenges played/won, streaks, and completion times. All profile data is linked to your anonymous user ID and is publicly visible on leaderboards.

1.3 Gameplay Data

• Player Nickname (also called "gamertag"): Names you enter for gameplay only -- stored locally or in your session.
• Game Photos: In online mode, photos are temporarily uploaded so other players can see them. Auto-deleted within 24 hours.
• Session Data: Session codes, game state, player nicknames, and scores for online play.

1.4 Purchase Information

VEO offers two optional auto-renewing monthly subscription tiers:

• VEO Plus -- $1.99/month (com.veo.plus.premium.monthly): online multiplayer, unlimited challenges, timed mode, 60+ curated images, clue categories, and progressive clues.
• VEO Smart -- $4.99/month (com.veo.smart.premium.monthly): everything in VEO Plus, plus AI scene generator, AI clue suggestions, and AI temperature feedback.

We store your subscription status and tier to unlock the appropriate features. All payments are processed entirely by the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) -- we never collect, process, or store your payment card details, Apple ID credentials, or Google account billing information.

1.5 Local Device Features

VEO may access your device camera and photo library when you choose to take or select a photo during gameplay. These permissions are requested at the time of use and can be revoked at any time through your device settings. Photos taken or selected remain on your device unless you share them in an online game mode.

1.6 Content Moderation

• Moderation Logs: Photos in Live Match, Local Challenge, and Global Challenge modes are scanned for inappropriate content. We store the pass/fail result, never the image itself.
• Content Reports: If you report inappropriate content, we store the report reason and your anonymous ID.

1.7 AI-Powered Features

VEO Smart subscribers may use AI-powered features. When these features are used:

• AI Scene Generator: A text prompt describing the desired scene theme and style is sent to Google Vertex AI (Imagen 3) to generate an image. No photos or personal data are sent -- only the theme, style, and configuration parameters.
• AI Clue Suggestions: The scene image URL, target region coordinates, enabled clue types, and your language preference are sent to Google Gemini for analysis. No user identity or personal data is included.
• AI Temperature Feedback: The scene image URL, target region, and guess region coordinates are sent to Google Gemini for evaluation. No user identity or personal data is included.

AI-generated results (scene images, suggested clues, temperature ratings) are stored in our database linked to your anonymous user ID.

1.8 Scene Analytics

We collect anonymous, non-identifiable usage data about which curated scenes are selected during gameplay (collection name, scene name, and game mode). This data is not linked to any user identity and is used solely to understand scene popularity.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Real name, phone number, or physical address (email is collected only if you voluntarily link your account)
• Location or GPS data
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Cross-app tracking or behavioral analytics (we collect only anonymous scene popularity data)
• Contacts, health, or browsing data

3. Online Modes

When you play Live Match, Local Challenge, or Global Challenge, game data syncs through Firebase. This includes:

• Session codes and game state
• Player nicknames and scores
• Game photos (compressed, temporary)

Local Challenges and Global Challenges also sync through Firebase with the same auto-deletion rules. All session data is automatically deleted when the game ends or within 24 hours, whichever comes first. Photos are screened for inappropriate content before sharing.

4. Children's Privacy

VEO is family-friendly and safe for all ages. We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children. All shared photos are automatically screened for inappropriate content to maintain a safe environment.

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
