Getting Started

How do I start a game?

Open VEO, add players, choose a scene (curated or camera), and tap Start. The first Picker is chosen at random. They hide an object in the scene, write a clue, and the Finders get searching.

What are Pickers and Finders?

Every round has one Picker and one or more Finders. The Picker selects a scene, circles a hidden object, and writes a clue. The Finders study the image and draw their guesses. After each guess, the Picker gives temperature feedback (Cold → Warm → Hot → Found!). The Picker rotates each round.

What are scenes?

Scenes are the images you play on. VEO includes 12 free curated scenes (72 total with VEO+) across themes like Pirate Treasure, Retro Arcade, and Enchanted Garden. You can also snap a photo of anything around you and turn it into a scene on the spot.

How do clues work?

The Picker writes a clue to help Finders narrow down the object. There are 6 clue types: letter, color, material, size, function, and location. Additional clues can unlock progressively — based on number of attempts, time elapsed, or manual control — depending on your settings.

How does scoring work?

Finders earn points based on which turn they find the object — earlier finds earn more. In Timed Mode, speed bonuses scale to remaining time. The player with the most points at the end wins.

Game Modes

Pass & Play

Free

One device, passed between players. The classic party mode. Works completely offline — perfect for road trips, waiting rooms, or family game night.

Online Multiplayer

VEO+

Each player on their own device. The host starts a session and shares a 6-digit code or QR code. Everyone plays in real-time — all Finders search simultaneously.

Challenge Mode

Create a find-the-object dare and share it as a link. Friends open the link, try to find what you hid, and you review their guesses with Hot/Cold feedback — all on your own time. Like sending a puzzle to your group chat.

Privacy & Safety

No tracking, no ads, no accounts

VEO collects zero personal data. There are no analytics trackers, no ad networks, and no sign-up required. The app is designed to be fully kid-safe.

Photo privacy

Photos taken with the camera stay on your device in Pass & Play. In Online Multiplayer, photos are temporarily shared with session participants and automatically deleted when the session ends. Photos are never used for any other purpose.

Content moderation

Photos taken in Online and Challenge modes are automatically scanned for inappropriate content. Players can also report content, and repeated violations may result in camera access being restricted.

Offline by default

Pass & Play works entirely offline. Online Multiplayer and Challenge Mode require internet only for syncing between devices. No background connections are made otherwise.

Troubleshooting

The camera won't open

Make sure VEO has camera permission. Go to Settings → VEO → Camera and toggle it on. Restart the app afterward.

My friend can't join my online session

Both players need an internet connection. Double-check the 6-digit code. If the session has already started, new players can't join mid-round — wait for the next round or create a new session.

The app froze or crashed

Force-close VEO and reopen it. If you were in an online session, rejoin with the same code — your progress is saved. Make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store.

Curated scenes aren't loading

The 12 free scenes are bundled with the app and work offline. Additional VEO+ scenes download on first use — make sure you have an internet connection and enough storage space.

I subscribed to VEO+ but features are still locked

Try restoring your purchase: go to Settings inside VEO and tap "Restore Purchases." If the issue persists, make sure your Apple ID payment method is up to date and contact us.

Challenge link isn't working for my friend

Challenge links direct recipients to download the app or open the challenge directly if already installed. Make sure the link wasn't truncated when shared. If it still doesn't work, try sharing it through a different app (Messages, WhatsApp, email, etc.).
